Website for Gifts to Stalingrad
Development of a historical and educational interactive website dedicated to gifts to Stalingrad
https://stalingrad.worldAbout the project
The primary goal of the historical and educational online project "And the Saved World Remembers..." is to uphold historical truth and justice in assessing our country's role and place in the Victory over fascism, as well as to promote Russian history both domestically and internationally by presenting historical facts about the Battle of Stalingrad, examples of positive historical memory, and balanced, objective evaluations of national history by foreign countries and their citizens.
The project is based on the unique collection of the "Gifts" fund from the Stalingrad Battle Museum-Reserve, which preserves gifts from citizens and state leaders of various countries. Most of these gifts are connected to the city’s heroic past. Therefore, all of them—from high artistic masterpieces to the simplest and most unassuming handmade items by unknown people from distant lands—hold historical and social value, serving as symbols of respect and recognition for Stalingrad’s heroic feat. The collection includes over 7,500 items, documents, and letters from 65 countries around the world.
Task
Develop an interactive website dedicated to gifts to Stalingrad, featuring a catalog of gifts from 65 countries around the world.
Solution
As part of the project, a modern, visually striking, and user-friendly interactive website was developed, dedicated to gifts to Stalingrad from around the world. The primary goal was to digitally showcase the unique collection of the Stalingrad Battle Museum-Reserve while preserving the historical significance of the exhibits and ensuring easy access for users from Russia and abroad.
Built on WordPress, the platform features a flexible content management system (CMS) that allows seamless catalog updates, including multilingual support and visual customization. The site's architecture prioritizes intuitive navigation and visual appeal, with full responsiveness across all devices. Special attention was given to interactive elements, such as a gift map and dynamic country-based filters, creating an immersive user experience. The design aligns with the client's branding while maintaining fast loading speeds and usability.
This transformation turns the museum's collection into a fully digital product with high accessibility, historical accuracy, and visual coherence.
